Accessibility Services

Accessibility Services.Accessibility services in language and design focus on ensuring that disabled readers, as well as those with accessibility needs and those requiring accommodations, are able to interact as fully as possible with the document.

As an editor who focuses on accessibility, I offer various services to help you reach various accessibility goals for your document and/or web copy.

Generally, examples of accessiiblity include

  • plain language and plain design,
  • AltText,
  • document structure, and
  • document colour scheme.
Benefits of Accessible Documents

Overall, accessible documents

  • consider and prioritize the needs of disabled users,

  • consider and prioritize the needs of those with accessibility needs/requiring accommodations,

  • ensure that these users interact as fully as possible with the document,

  • consider conflicting access needs,

  • adhere to the principles of inclusion, diversity, and equity,

  • improve the overall user experience

  • reach many additional readers, and

  • (in the case of web copy) can be indexed by search engines.

  • adding AltText to all images in Microsoft Word documents, Google Slides presentations, and WordPress websites.
Accessibility Experience

Accessibility is incredibly important to me for a variety of reasons. Specifically, one of these main reasons is my lived experience as a disabled person.
