What I Need from You
When connecting, please provide the following information so I can send you a personalized quote. If we both agree, I then will send you a contract to review and sign.
- The Document: Please provide the document in Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
- Type of Edit Required: Please specify if this document requires a copy edit, a stylistic edit, a proofread, or a blended approach. (All edits include a general inclusive language edit. More in-depth inclusive edits are also available.)
- Additional Services Required: Additionally, please specify if you are interested in specialized services, such as plain language, inclusive language, or accessibility.
- Previous Document Editing: Let me know if other editors have previously worked on this project, and if a style guide has been provided.
- Style Guide Requirements: Specify which style guide you wish to follow (The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), Canadian Press, (CP), etc.).
- Spelling and Publishing Standards Requirements: Additionally, please specify which type of English spelling and publishing norms are required (Canadian English, US English, UK English, etc.).
- Additional Information: Finally, let me know a bit about your project! Some helpful information includes your intended audience, where this will be published, and if this will be self-published or submitted to traditional publishers.
What You Will Receive from Me
At our agreed upon due date, I will provide you with
- an edited document (either a Microsoft Word document with “Track Changes” and comments or a Google Docs document with “Suggested” edits and comments),
- a general inclusive language edit,
- a clean Microsoft Word or Google Docs document,
- a editorial letter, and
- a style sheet of my edits.
