Editing News: Editing and Translation Texts
In addition to my busy December and January in sci-fi reads and re-reads, February was also a very busy month for me in terms of professional development for both editing and translation.
Editing
In terms of editing books, I was finally able to finish the excellent The Conscious Style Guide: A Flexible Approach to Language That Includes, Respects, and Empowers by Karen Yin.
I also read the updated second edition of Elements of Indigenous Style: A Guide for Writing By and About Indigenous Peoples by Gregory Younging and lead editor Warren Cariou.
Finally, I finally picked up a copy of Romancing the Beat: Story Structure for Romance Novels by Gwen Hayes.
Translation
These past few months, including February, have also been busy ones for me, as I read a few books on translation. With a focus on translating Latin American authors from Spanish to English, I was able to read If This Be Treason: Translation and its Dyscontents by Gregory Rabassa, The Subversive Scribe: Translating Latin American Fiction by Suzanne Jill Levine, and Why Translation Matters by Edith Grossman.
In addition, I was able to read a more personal In Other Words by Jhumpa Lahiri.
