Translation Services Defined
In addition to my editing services, I offer translation services from Latin American Spanish (with a focus on Northern Mexican and Guatemalan Spanish) to Canadian, US, and UK English.
My Translation Background
My background in the Spanish language is extensive. Formally, I successfully completed higher-level university courses in Spanish and attended two several month-long intensive language programs in in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Spanish to English Translation.
Informally, I train in specific terminology related to political science and international relations and read Spanish-language literature voraciously. I have lived in Argentina, Guatemala, and Northern Mexico.
Specifically, I primarily work in non-fiction, such as marketing content: social media posts, blogs, articles, reports, etc. In addition, am familiar with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, such as MateCAT.

Translation Rate and Process
For non-fiction, my translation rate is $40 CAD per 1,000 words.
This includes
- an email discussion of your translation needs and project specifics,
- one round (three passes) of translation, and
- a follow up email discussion regarding any clarifications or questions.
At our agreed upon due date, I will provide you with
- a translated Microsoft Word document or a Google document.
Translator Terms and Conditions
- All rates are quoted in CAD.
- Upon receipt of documents, a contract will be sent to the Client, which must be signed prior to commencing work.
- This contract will establish scope of work, expectations, and timelines.
- A 50% deposit must be sent via e-transfer or PayPal prior to the Translator commencing work.
- The remaining 50% will be due upon receipt of Translator invoice prior to completed work being released.
