I also offer Sample Edits as a way to introduce you to my editing style and as a way to see if this project is the right fit for both of us. A Sample Edit also allows you to reflect on the type of editing that your project may need, and allows us an opportunity to discuss your exact requirements.
Who Am I?
Before we begin, an introduction is in order. I am a freelance Canadian (and—often—Toronto, Ontario-based) copy editor, proofreader, and content writer—specializing in non-fiction, plain language, and inclusive language.
As a lifelong learner and admirer of language nuances and quirks, copy editing, stylistic editing, and proofreading always seemed to be what I was destined to do. In particular, I would say that my editing journey began many years ago, with years spent in various geographical locations. This privilege has granted me the opportunity to speak several languages, including English, Spanish, Ukrainian, and limited working-level Polish.
I have an educational background in English Literature and Political Science, as well as Certificates in Editing and Plain Language and training in accessibility.
A voracious reader, I enjoy world literature, historical fiction, world history, Latin American history, political science, political philosophy, and international relations.
On a personal note, you can often find me reading (yet another book on my never-ending to-read list), cooking and baking (anything wrapped in dough), travelling (preferably to the desert), and taking photos (of old buildings and other people’s pets)!
